If anyone knows how to find beauty, comfort and function in imperfect things it’s Rachel Ashwell. She’s transformed her sumptuous Los Angeles home into her “‘Everything I need’ house” with the treasures and trinkets of days gone by: mismatched furniture, Victorian lace curtains, regal wallpaper and, of course, luxurious chandeliers. In Shabby Chic Interiors, her first book in five years, she takes you inside her “home for all reasons,” and more of her favorite California homes to show you how she uses beloved flea market finds and whimsically pretty details to create inviting, relaxed living spaces. From a light and airy family home with a mix of modern and vintage that “demonstrates that opposites can live pleasurably together” to the simple, beautifully crafted Spanish hacienda Marilyn Monroe once called home, these homes are as eclectic as their owners, but they all reflect Rachel’s design philosophy with bathrooms that set the stage for the “most glamorous of bathing and pampering experiences,” dining rooms where “Marie Antoinette meets Southern California,” and all of the other cherished items and unique details that give a home character and heart. I thought the pictures were very good, but was a little disappointed that it was basically the same thing as her other books. I still enjoyed looking at it and will go back to it as a reference. I'm glad I purchased it.

I still would have bought it, can't beat the price on BOMC2. It's not as good as the other books, but I still glad I bought it.
