If only every home could be this cozy and inviting! Kathryn M. Ireland, named one of the top 100 designers in the U.S. by House Beautiful®, proudly presents a “sympathetic restoration” of the historic Libbey Ranch in Ojai, California. How she reconceived the great room, the kitchen, bedrooms and baths, and the spacious property for her clients will give you a wealth of ideas for creating comfortable, stylish living spaces in your home.
While Ireland worked with care to pay tribute to the ranch’s past, her innovative ideas and solutions can work on homes from any era. With this particular job, she focused on making the most of natural light and furnishing with pieces that are comfortable and practical enough to accomodate everyday living, but also beautiful enough for special ocassions—and who doesn’t want that? Her thoughts on keeping original fixures vs. replacing them, examples of fabric swatches from her popular fabric line that you can use in your own home improvement projects, plus resources for antiques, furniture, hardware, lighting fixtures, paint, stone and tile are all especially useful, whether you’re contemplating a renovation or ready for a quick makeover. I found the book pretty boring. It's one 'style' if you call it that- and nothing much more. Lots of writing- not real creative in photos.

It was a delight to follow the journey of a brilliant designer in her determination to restore a beautiful place and a piece of history. While honoring the original design she created an amazing and inviting place that I would feel privileged to spend a summer in as resident or as a guest. I love the book and am buying it for clients and friends, it is my new favorite!

I agree to what the other review said, not my taste at all.

This book is a journal and a one demensional style of decorating. She redoes a stucco style barn into a home and decorates in her style. To much writing. We do not need a step by step of her style. Overly priced and down right boring. Verrrry disappointed!
