Heirloom photos…baseball cards…vintage linens or postcards…children’s artwork…antique quilts…. Whatever you can lay flat on styrene, you can use for a one-of-a-kind lampshade. Judy Lake (better known as The Lampshade Lady) has spent 20 years perfecting her technique and teaching eager crafters and home decorators her tricks. Now, with The Lampshade Lady’s Guide to Lighting Up Your Life, you, too, can customize lampshades, lamps and finials to perfectly fit your style. In addition to 50 pretty projects, Lake shares great advice on basic lampshade-making techniques and tools, fun ideas for embellishments and lots of tips (most important, how to fit the shade to the lamp). What’s more, step-by-step photos guide you from start to finish!

The directions and ideas are wonderful. The book is fun to read and use. I will never purchase another lampshade except to re-do!

I have already made one lampshade using the instructions in this book and currently planning my second one. The instructions are great. Highly recommend if you like to create your own decor.

This is a great book for those who love to sew. Sadly, I don't. I was hoping for more eclectic, mixed-media ideas. Otherwise -- good book!

I am not one to write reviews in general, although I have purchased many really good books in the past. However, I found Judy Lake's book to be quite informative, and her enthusiasm and beautiful creations have inspired me to delve deeper into this art form. Her instructions are clear and very easy to understand and she offers many useful tips (which I find lacking with many entrepreneurs)for beginners. Her lampshades are not only eyecatching, but works of art. If you are interested in making lampshades, I believe you will find this book to be one which you reach for time and time again as a reference.
