To previous generations, thrift was a virtue. Reclaim its value as you revive your home with creative repurposing of vintage and used furniture, accessories, linens and collectibles. As Liz Bauwens and Alexandra Campbell say, it’s the small details that make your home special: the pretty thrifted lampshade, grandma’s antique bed frame, all the wonderful features that made you fall in love with your house in the first place. Thrifty Chic shows you how to bring vintage charm into every room of your home without spending a fortune.
Liz and Alexandra take you room by room showing you how to make the most of your home’s original fixtures, revitalize old furniture with new fabrics and cushions and group mismatched items into cohesive themes. There are even a number of step-by-step projects that show you how to create a variety of stylish home accessories out of bargain purchases. If you’re the kind of person who likes to know the story behind your collectibles, if you think a little wear and tear adds character, if you love peeking into bright and cheery homes filled with second-hand treasures, you’ll love flipping through this book and, even more, putting it to work for you. Color photos.

The word "thrift" should have been "tasteless". Don't get me wrong. I love garage sales. But this book is not my style. I passed over it several times, but when it was listed as "favorite", I ordered it. Should have stuck with my gut instinct.

I loved the cover, I like a ecletic style but some of the book I just didn't like, not my taste.

Yes the pictures are nice, if you don't mind seeing them again and again. But I think the average person won't find much to take away from a lost afternoon in these pages. Sorry I spent my money on it.

I'll admit it- I got sucked in by the beautiful cover art and the title- Thrifty Chic- doesn't it just sound swell? The pictures in this book are not particularly inspirational, and every 8th page or so I had to shake off an eery sense of deja vu- the same pictures are featured again and again throughout the book. I saved this one for last because I thought I'd like it best. This one will probably end up in my garage sale next year... Not worth the price of admission.

I thought I was going to like this book but it really isn't my taste. I think I have very eclectic taste and can appreciate almost any style of decor but this just didn't make the cut. I may return it.
