It’s easy to see why yoga has been regarded for centuries as the ideal path to complete fitness: greater strength and flexibility, stronger posture and toned muscles, and better overall health.
Recognizing the mind-body-spirit connection, Cyndi Lee and David Nichtern—founders of OM Yoga—developed “Yoga Body, Buddha Mind,” a workshop presented around the world combining basic asana (postures) with shamatha (mindful) meditation. The response was staggering—over several thousand students and almost 500 teachers have been trained in this approach.
Now, for the first time ever, One Spirit is pleased to offer our members an exclusive kit, the OM Yoga and Meditation Workshop—an exclusive DVD, music CD, and booklet—to bring the benefits of practicing yoga and meditation into your home. A wonderful feature of the DVD is that you can press “pause” on your remote to take a closer look at a yoga pose or meditation and learn at your own pace.
Beginning with a meditation by David, then a yoga sequence with Cyndi, the basic elements are:
1. Making Friends with Yourself - a basic meditation and your first yoga practice
2. Dynamic Equilibrium - tools for finding balance in our lives
3. Obstacles as Path - difficulties can be motivation
4. Opening Your Heart to Others - using maitri, a lovingkindness technique
Both yoga and meditation are featured equally in this workshop as it introduces you to traditional Buddhist practices drawn from the Shambhala Buddhist philosophy, taught by Chogyam Trunpa Rinpoche, Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche, and Pema Chödrön.
In this way, we begin to feel integrated as human beings—our minds can become clear and stable, our bodies strong and supple, and our hearts open and tender.”

The yoga segments are for intermediate level practitioners. I recommend classes for beginners before using this dvd. The meditations are very useful - David Nichtern has a nurturing voice.

very disapointing

I have to agree with another customer. I am stuck with this CD. I was very disappointed. Where was the meditation? I heard a lot of instructions and very little meditation. I was annoyed. The yoga was the same. I don't think a beginner can learn from this. This is definitely not for intermmediate or advance. I figure if you are at this level, you just want the meditation piece to start. A little too instructional and didn't appear to get to a point. It will be one that I put in my garage sale.

Like many other reviewers, I didn't like the yoga section of the DVD. That's to say that I found it completely incomprehensible.
A meditation session is the first section on the DVD, and it is very relaxing, which is completely at odds with the yoga section that follows, in which the instructor is basically bouncing onto and off of the floor, and talking non-stop. If I wanted an aerobics DVD, I would have bought one.
All of this would be OK, but the materials accompanying the DVD take great pains to tell the purchaser that this DVD is for all levels, including beginners, and that they don't want to intimidate anyone with images of insanely advanced "pretzel people." That's all very nice to say, but it's obviously not what they had in mind when they planned that actual yoga sessions.
If you want advanced, frenetic yoga, then this might be for you. If you're a beginner, steer clear.

If you are a beginner to yoga, hold off until you become more experienced. She has a great attitude, but the pace is quick.
